WORK/CULTURE 1.1

We are excited to see you all this Thursday, July 11 at the Carroll  School of Management at Boston College and are looking forward to a  great meeting. Please arrive on time and plan to stay  all day.

Prepare a few things for the day:

- Your presentation: be ready to speak for ten minutes about something  you’re excited about. This might be an issue you’re struggling with in your dissertation, a new literature you’ve discovered, a new idea for a project. Your presentation does not have to be on a well-developed idea; the main thing is that you present something you are excited about. We will not be using powerpoint or video.

- Prepare a handout of one to two pages related to your presentation: an abstract, a draft of an argument, an annotated bibliography, an outline, a request for help. Please have this done and printed (10 copies) when you arrive. These will be distributed AFTER your presentation is complete – do not use these as your powerpoint!

- Bring an object or prop that represents in some way your presentation or an idea from it. Be creative, and try to find an object that speaks to the heart of the thing you find exciting.

- Prepare a two-minute talk (really, that short) on a big debate in your field, why it matters (the stakes), and where you stand.

Write us with any last-minute questions or concerns. See you Saturday!
